Keeping your SBE certification active
Every year: Submit an affidavit confirming that your firm is still eligible for the SBE program.
When? We email you instructions 60 days before your certification anniversary date.
Personal net worth limit: $2,047,000 for each owner whose ownership counts toward the 51% requirement.
Size limit: Average annual gross receipts of $32.82 million or less, as of April 1, 2026, and the federal size standard for your type of work.
Your annual affidavit
Every certified Small Business Enterprise (SBE) firm must submit an affidavit each year confirming that it is still eligible for the program. Sixty days before your certification anniversary date, we email you instructions for submitting your Continuation of Certification documents.
Emails from the Certification Management System come only from [email protected]. If you receive a message about your certification from any other address, do not click its links. Email [email protected] to check whether it is real.
Report changes
Your firm was certified based on the information in your application. If anything changes that could affect your eligibility, such as a change in ownership, control, or size, email [email protected] and submit the change in the Certification Management System.
Staying eligible
Your firm must continue to meet every SBE requirement for as long as it is certified. If its average annual gross receipts grow past the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) size limit or the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) size standard for its work, or a qualifying owner's personal net worth rises above $2,047,000, your firm may no longer qualify.
A false statement or material omission on your affidavit is enough to deny certification, decertify your firm, or begin suspension or debarment proceedings.
Firms with more than one certification
If your firm also holds Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) certification, you must also meet the DBE annual and reevaluation requirements.
