VSBE Recertification at a Glance

  • How often? Every three years.

  • When? Only in the 30 days before your certification expires. Renewals submitted earlier are not processed.

  • What do I need? Your existing veteran verification number. No new veteran documents are required, and there is no cost.

When to recertify

Your Veteran-Owned Small Business Enterprise (VSBE) certification is valid for three years. The three-year term took effect September 1, 2025.

When your certification is 30 days from expiring, a notice appears on the Company Info page of your eMaryland Marketplace Advantage (eMMA) account. You must renew within that 30-day window. A renewal submitted before the window opens will not be processed.

Checking your status

In the Documents tab, the Document Validity column shows an orange check mark when your certification is 30 days from expiring, a red X while your renewal is pending, and a green check mark once your certification is active again.

If your certification expires

If you do not recertify by your expiration date, your business is removed from the VSBE Program automatically. You can reapply in eMMA, and if your business is still eligible, you will receive a new VSBE certification number.

Staying compliant

Notify the Office of Small, Minority, & Women Business Affairs (OSBA) within 30 days of any change that affects your eligibility, such as a change in ownership or control. Providing false information can lead to suspension or debarment, a voided contract, or criminal or civil penalties.
