Veteran-owned Coforma Business Breaks Into Maryland's State Contracting Network
As a Veteran-owned small business headquartered in Bethesda, Montgomery County, Coforma faced a common challenge: breaking into state-level networks and contracting circles without a formal pathway or recognized credential to open those doors.
Coforma was accepted into Maryland's Veteran-Owned Small Business Enterprise (VSBE) Program last year. While the company hasn't yet been awarded work directly through the program, the certification itself became a concrete milestone — formal recognition that has already begun connecting Coforma with new contacts across the state and laying the groundwork for future opportunities. The company grew to 160 total employees in 2025, a 33.5% increase from 2024, and earned a dozen industry awards in 2026, including the Maryland Tech Council ICON Award for Government Contracting Company of the Year.
