HVAC Apprentice Builds MBE, DBE, and SBE-Certified Business in Prince George's County
Accokeek resident Joseph Reid joined the Local 602 Steamfitters union as a helper straight out of Gwynn Park High School in June 2007. He spent years sharpening his technical skills, completing his apprenticeship in 2015 to become a journeyman, and earning his master HVAC license in 2018.
In 2022, Joseph decided to pursue his dream of entrepreneurship, launching J&R Solutions out of his residential garage. By April 2024, his hard work paid off with his first brick-and-mortar commercial shop in Upper Marlboro. This year, he became a signatory with the Local 5 plumbing union and hired his first welder — and he's now looking to scale the J&R brand across the region.
The OMBE team provided the critical communication, clarification, and follow-up needed to navigate the complexities of state-level business expansion.
